The Scarlett Murderess...

A fake cover - my homage those of the 1950s and 60s paperback crime novels. I'm a huge fan of that particular genre of illustration, especially the great Robert McGinnis.

30min sketches

A bunch of quick sketches done to loosen up and sometimes to get me out of a block.

Hey! hey! We're the Monkeys...

Some ape related art from a recent Drawing Board Jam. Most of these were done at the actual size that they are posted.

Left to right - Cornelius and Dr Zaius (from the original Planet of the Apes); Gorilla Grodd (a villain from the Flash comics); General Thade (from Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes re-imagining); Stephen Collins as Capt Jake Cutter (from 80s TV show Tales of the Gold Monkey); One of the "Dawn of Man" apes (from 2001: A Space Odyssey); and... er... Mickey Dolenz (from The Monkees)

Keira Knightley

A portrait of Keira Knightley, with close up.

Caricatures

It'd been years since I tried my hand at caricature, but I did some recently for Jams at the Drawing Board - I quite enjoyed doing them, and was pretty pleased with the results.

From left to right - Matt Damon; Uma Thurman; John Goodman; Hans Christian Anderson

Uma was the most difficult, as it's tricky to distort the features of a beautiful woman and still keep her attractive.

Famous faces

Some portraits done over the last few months.

Left to right: Audrey Tautou; Shakira; Michelle Rodriguez

Blue

Something from a few months back - based on a photo of Aria Giovanni. I did the original in the blue colours (don't know why - seemed like a good idea at the time) and then adjusted to see what a more natural skin tone would look like.

I prefer the original blue one.

Kristin again (and other Smallville residents)

Another portrait of Ms Kreuk, and my favourite thing I've ever done (with a close-up of the face). Also, a couple of her Smallville costars - Tom (Clark Kent) Welling and Erica (Lois Lane) Durance.

Wolverine

After X-23, here's three pictures of her "daddy".

I probably draw Wolverine more than any other superhero, but I don't think I've ever drawn him in his spandex costume. The second one is a quick sketch, from reference, of Hugh Jackman in the X-Men movies; the other two were done without reference

X-23 x 4

Some digital paintings and marker sketches of one of Marvel's newest mutant superheroes, who is the clone daughter/sister of Wolverine.

I Love Lucy...

Actually, I don't, but Ms Lucy Liu does have an unusual and interesting face. These were both done for a Jam on the Drawing Board. The likeness isn't that great...

Rocketeer to the rescue...

A picture of Dave Stevens' Rocketeer, done for a Jam on The Drawing Board, and a couple of variations of Lothar (based on the 1930s/40s actor Rondo Hatton) for same

Respect my Authori-tah!

Two pics from a while ago, of Jenny Sparks and The Midnighter from "The Authority"

Avengers Assemble...

Some recent drawings of characters who have appeared in Marvel Comic's "Avengers" series over the years
From left to right: Captain America (a homage to a 1930s' Doc Savage illustration by Walter Baumhofer); The Mighty Thor; Luke Cage; The Incredible Hulk

Christen with Kristin

So,

I've decided to start a blog for my drawings, because I'm too lazy to build a website. I thought I'd start off with my favourite subject to draw, the lovely Kristin Kreuk (of Smallville fame).
